Week 7 Kindness Challenge|Secret Kindness

Attention all Kindness Challenge Participants!

The Kindness Challenge is coming to an end. Over the past 6 weeks we’ve explored many ways of practicing kindness daily. We started with ourselves and have expanded it to the world around us. Although the challenge itself is coming to a close, that doesn’t mean that it ever really ends. For many this seed has been planted and has already begun to sprout. I encourage you to continue to tend to this beautiful flower of kindness that you’ve put so much effort into nurturing over the past 6 weeks.

A few years ago I came across this notion of being kind and keeping quiet about it. Doing kind things for others whether big or small and not saying a thing. Some feel that it taints the spirit of kindness in which the act was done by sharing it with someone else. Once you share it, it could be seen as boasting and you’re being praised for being so thoughtful and selfless taking the innocence out of the act. During the course of this challenge we’ve been sharing as a way to reflect with a two fold effect- one being to help us see things we might have overlooked or not realized and the other being to connect with our fellow participants.

This week we are going to explore what it feels like to be kind throughout the week and not say anything to anyone. It can be awfully exciting to share the nice things that you do even if you aren’t seeking a compliment. Just sharing the knowledge of kindness can make you happy but this week let’s discover what happens when we keep it to ourselves!

Let kindness touch those around you and the spirit live on through those that witness it.

This week’s focus is to be kind and be silent about it.

This week’s exercise is simple, keep practicing kindness daily and don’t say anything about it. Let your actions speak louder than your words and let the spirit of kindness fill the silence.

Week 7 blog prompt- After practicing the exercise for the week:

Don’t even blog about what you did! You can mention how it made you feel to keep it to yourself and any discoveries you made but don’t mention anything that you did. This week’s reflection will be on the challenge as a whole. How do you feel after focusing your thoughts on kindness for 7 weeks? Did you consider yourself kind before the challenge? If you didn’t focus on kindness before, did that necessarily make you unkind? Did you discover you’re more kind than you realized? Did you find ways to increase your kindness? Do you feel different? Did you see things that you might have otherwise missed? Did you enjoy it? Will you continue to practice living a kind life? Has it become a habit or part of your lifestyle? Have people noticed a change in you? Will you participate again next year? Will you spread the word to your family and friends for them to join you? Read your before post, did this journey take you where you expected? What did you get out of it? What did it do for you? Did it add any value to your life? Share whatever you want about having participated in this challenge.

    1. Not always, but each day more often than the one before. I have my moments but I try really hard at it 🙂 Hope you’re well also! I survived my trip! Details to come on Thursday’s post 😉

      1. Yes, I’ve finally learned that and with letting go of my expectation of perfection I’ve found myself making better choices more easily. My former self wouldn’t have believed that for a second! 🙂

      2. It’s just not realistic. Perfection isn’t something I strive for personal, professional or otherwise. Authentic and the best version of myself…that’s the path I’m on these days 🙂

      3. Oooooh sounds like some excellent self-exploration and discovery. I’ve been on that path as well and life takes on a whole new meaning once you discover it! I’d love to offer you a complimentary coaching session if you’re ever interested.

  1. Six weeks down and in the final part of the challenge….how?? When?? It’s flown past!!! Even if I have muddled thoughts together at the last minute…or maybe I haven’t…last minute allows a whole week to rest in the mind for cogitation and thought. Very thought provoking few weeks indeed…. Fabulous job you made of it too 🙃

      1. No need to thank, it’s been a wonderful journey…even if I have aged six weeks in the blink of an eye 😜

Might even keep doing mindful posts every once in a while now too 😊

      2. I know I was thinking about that just yesterday!! It seems like ages since we’ve talked! Funny you should ask about that, last night was my first in-person class for life coaching and we had to come up with a goal related to one of our dreams. Turns out that the FB page we talked about seems like the next logical step to fulfilling part of my dream. It’s a great extension of the Kindness Challenge and I’m hoping that the momentum from the challenge will have everyone excited to post and share the page to spread a little kindness into the lives of those they know and love. I’m a little nervous about it but I’m going with it so between now and the end of the month the page will be live.

      3. It’s is ages…for my faults…it’s been school exams…a lot of time as taxi….it’s not left much time as its exam and finish then back later to fetch the other one. Last is tomorrow morning then it’s more routine except eldest has then left school until September 😱 Brilliant re your life coaching and the FB page sounds a cool idea STILL LOL…I’ve actually had several people tell me to keep writing mindful posts….it seems it’s quite a trending topic around the blogosphere. I may well continue. Nerves are good….they say edge of comfort zone…go for it..
Did my latest one ping back ok?
