Once again I’m late to catch up on something that went viral months ago but the message is so important it needs to continue to circulate! Whether you’ve seen it before or you’re just being introduced to it like me, I hope that you watch it all of the way through.
It couldn’t be more fitting given last week’s events.
I can relate to this video personally for a few of reasons.
- I’m mixed race and growing up I was always having to read the fine print of the “edition of my car” aloud. People didn’t know what race I was and I had a hard time finding where I fit in.
- As an adult I don’t identify with labels (especially not race related ones). I’m a person and that’s as far as I’m willing to
limitlabel myself. The older I’ve gotten the less I’ve identified with race and labels in general.
- I’m raising my kids to not label themselves, they are too restricting (plus labels are to identify items).
I love the overall message of this video and how he uses the analogy of cars. So many people already view life this way and that’s a beautiful thing! The more people that embrace this message, the better! We don’t choose the model we drive, I encourage you to take the model off of your car and to continue to form opinions based on the upgrades to the car, not the model.
A post that goes hand in hand with today’s post.
Had you seen this video before or was it your first time? What are your thoughts on it? Are you in the process of removing your labels? What upgrades have you put into your “car”? What’s something someone wouldn’t know by just looking at your “car” as they walk by? What was your favorite verse? What are your thoughts on this post? Share in the comments!
