The Energy in Your Life

I’ve found that there’s nothing more empowering than learning to take responsibility and accountability for your life. It wasn’t the most exciting or comfortable part of my journey but it was certainly necessary in order to grow. It was actually one of the first steps I had to take in order to be able to not only eventually overcome depression but change my mindset. I didn’t realize that by trying to distance myself from blame and responsibility I was also losing the power I had over my own life. By learning to take responsibility going forward, I was able to put myself in a position of power in my life. Continue reading “The Energy in Your Life”

Discussing Privilege

I love opening up the conversation about things that may be uncomfortable but through the conversations we have can help change our perspective and inspire solutions. I love how the presenter of this talk approaches the subject of privilege and challenges people to use it to help others.  Continue reading “Discussing Privilege”

J.K. Rowling’s Teachable Moments

Today I wanted to share some teachable moments from J.K. Rowling’s life. As successful as she is today, I have to say I admire her transparency. She’s very open about the things she had to overcome to get to where she is today. I admire so many things about her and find her both incredibly inspirational and down to earth. It’s really hard for me to pick my favorite of the 10 rules of success in this video. They are all really good!  Continue reading “J.K. Rowling’s Teachable Moments”

Holding it Together

This is for all of you who are struggling to keep things together. I want to encourage you to lean on those around you for support. Don’t take on more than you can handle. You don’t have to do it all or have it all together all of the time. Continue reading “Holding it Together”

Travel Agent vs Tour Guide Parenting

I’ve seen myself grow and go through changes as a parent. When I first became a mom, I thought my role as a parent was one of a dictator. I made all decisions, set all of the rules, and had to demand compliance no matter what. Luckily, a few years into parenting right when I actually had to start putting things into action, I discovered Continue reading “Travel Agent vs Tour Guide Parenting”

Cultivate Happiness!

I think this quote is incredibly powerful! Don’t let yourself be fooled into thinking others are happy because of luck, fortune, wealth, or anything else. Happiness is cultivated! You can want for nothing and still not be happy. Today I just wanted to encourage you to remember to cultivate your happiness!  Continue reading “Cultivate Happiness!”

My Kindness Role Models

It didn’t take very long for me to list the people who inspire me to be more kind. While I consider myself a kind person, there’s always room for more! The people I’ve chosen each inspire a different form of kindness in my life. Continue reading “My Kindness Role Models”

Tools for Your Journey

As the self-kindness portion of The Kindness Challenge has come to an end, I just wanted to share something I think a lot of people need to be reminded of. We’re all on this journey of life with no instructions or manual. We’re all doing the best we can with the tools at our disposal during our journey. It’s easy to look back and see how we could have done things better because we have tools that would have been useful and a different perspective.  Continue reading “Tools for Your Journey”

Handling Criticism

I have to admit that I’ve never been very good at receiving criticism. Growing up it was laid on thick with no regard to how it would make me feel. As I got older, I didn’t know how to handle it. I took it very personally and when I felt it was coming, I’d put my guard up. The problem is, it was detrimental to me. Instead of being open to the feedback that could help me improve, I’d do the adult version of sticking my fingers in my ears and humming so I couldn’t hear or receive the message.  Continue reading “Handling Criticism”

Consistency Yields Results!

Happy Monday everyone! I hate to sound like a broken record, I know I recently shared a similar message but I have a feeling someone needs to be reminded of this today. In a world of instant gratification and instant results, it’s easy to feel like we’re failing or lacking in some way when things don’t come together as quickly as we’d like or on the first time around.  Continue reading “Consistency Yields Results!”
